Winter Wonderland
While admittedly, I'm not exactly overjoyed to be driving around on an ice rink and scraping my van windows again, this makes it all worthwhile. If ever you tire of the snow, come and visit us at recess. Our children are beyond thrilled with the freshly fallen snow to crunch in, create snowmen and forts and even fill up for a morning snack. We join with them in praising God and celebrating the change of the seasons.
Walk-A-Thon Thank You
Remember back when the sun used to shine and our children were running around in t-shirts and shorts? Way back in those days we held a walk-a-thon which you helped your child raise money to support various initiatives and efforts at school. I would like to celebrate with you a purchase that we recently made and are busily implementing. All of our students are learning to reading through lessons and coaching taught by their classroom teacher. We have purchased a supportive program which enriching and supplements our reading workshop program with our Educational Support team of teachers. This program is an intervention kit which helps breaks down the process of learning to read and helps our Educational Support Staff respond to a variety of needs demonstrated by our budding readers. We are very excited to begin implementing this program and expect to see growth, confidence, success and enjoyment in our readers who may need an additional nudge to support their growth. THANK YOU for your walk-a-thon support and efforts.
Book Fair
We are once again invited to replenish our at-home libraries by shopping at the book fair. The money raised during this event is utilized by Mrs. Hofman to purchase new, exciting reading material for our library. Please make note of the dates and times of the book fair. A huge thank you to Val Nyhof who is giving of her time and efforts to make this event a huge success. If you would be willing to help Val, who currently is the only person manning the table, please contact her at valnyhof@hotmail.com Thank you!

Toys on the Playground
We've been having some challenges on the playground with toys from home. When they get lost, damaged, picked up by the wrong hands we have hurt feelings. Our hope is that our playground's equipment provides plenty of options for our children to play and engage with. Would you please assist in our efforts to keep school safe and comfortable for everyone by keeping toys either at home or in the backpack.
Swimming Lessons
One week down, one to go! We're celebrating all the growth, success and budding confidence we see in our little swimmers at the pool each day. As with all skills, our children demonstrate a range of ability and comfort (speaking as a mother right now, it is a joy to see children who fly into the water with a confident "watch me" smile, while I swallow my heart watching our timid ones work hard to push themselves out of their comfort zone to learn these unfamiliar skills in a new setting. I'm so proud of how hard everyone is working). Next week, we will only have swimming lessons Monday through Thursday. On Friday, the Aquatic Center will be hosting the state swimming meet and we don't quite fit in with that crowd yet. Thank you for supporting, celebrating and encouraging your children to meet this new adventure.
