Building Our HC Heritage

We're preparing for one of my favorite South Side celebrations of the year: Grandparents Day! In the photo, you see all 151 of our children in their places, ready to begin our rehearsal. What you are not able to hear, unfortunately, and experience, is bearing witness to the praise and love they offer when they sing together. Truly, this group of students are able to peel apart the clouds and bring a piece of heaven here on earth, if even for a few moments, when they sing from their hearts. Your parents or grandfriends are in for a moving spiritual journey if they are able to attend our Grandparents Day celebration on Thursday, October 9 at 10:15. They will be invited to sit with your children in class from 10:15-10:45, grab of cup of coffee and a cookie, thanks to our parent team, and then find their place in the gym to be blessed by a time of worship led by your children.

Kevin Kammeraad
We will welcome local author, Kevin Kammeraad so South Side on Tuesday, October 21st, from 10:30-11:30.  Kevin visited us last year with his friends and music that produced lots of giggles and smiles among students (and staff). His program inspires creativity and "outside of the box" thinking in our children. 

SPARK Military Service Man or Woman
 Through our SPARK program students delight in writing letters/cards to men and women that serve our country.   Do you know of a Military service man or woman our students could correspond with? If so, please notify the school office with an address if you have one to share. 

Grandparent's Day
Thursday, October 9 from 10:15 - 11:30 A. M. we will be inviting our grandparents to take a peek in the busy lives of their grandchildren.  We will send invitations home with your children, but a "save the date call to grandparents" may be helpful.


Ditto Work Bee Dates
"Each year ditto contributes $160 per pupil, toward annual tuition costs.  As a way of supporting ditto's efforts, our class will be hosting a Work Bee on Monday evening, October 27th , from 6 - 8pm.  What a great way to volunteer and have fun at the same time!!  Please make every effort to support ditto and our HCS and ZCS community by attending our scheduled Work Bee.  See you there!!"

Mom's In Prayer invites you to join with us as we pray for our children.  We meet Monday mornings from 8:15-9:20ish at Sonya Snyder's house (162 West 37th Street).  It is such a blessing to pray with other mothers, and to praise God together for the good gifts He gives.  Please feel to give it a try when it works for your schedule!.
