Seeing Possibilities

Guiding and working with God's youngest kingdom builders is a joy, a great responsibility and a true blessing. God has packed our children full of unique talents and special abilities. Our entire South Side staff deeply appreciates the fact that you have entrusted us to go about the work of developing your child's unique gifts and helping him/her understand how those gifts can be used to transform a little corner of the world for God's glory.

The past few days I had the opportunity to attend the MACUL conference in Detroit. Several other educators from Holland Christian attended this conference as well. We spent the days exploring various aspects of the learning process in a wide variety sessions and experiences. We spent evenings discussing, evaluating and reflecting our children's learning experiences at Holland Christian. It is our desire to offer children the best, highest-level learning experiences possible that our students would be able to reach their full potential.

Please enjoy this little exchange between a teacher and young elementary students. Notice how, with an intentional line of questioning and encouragement, children can be coached to become more than we may have ever hoped for. What a true blessing and joy to grow our little learners. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.

I SPY A GOOD BOOK!: We are highlighting books that promote visual literacy! What good book did you spy? Be sure to recommend good books to other readers!

Free WhiteCaps Tickets:
Students can earn WhiteCaps tickets with their March reading minutes. New this year: record reading minutes on the WhiteCaps calendar. The minutes for classroom reading goals and the WhiteCaps calendar are the same minutes, recorded in two different places. If they turn in the completed WhiteCaps calendar, students will be given vouchers that can be redeemed for two free WhiteCaps tickets. Be sure to have a parent’s initials in each space.
