Snowy Daze

What an incredible stretch of weather we've been experiencing! I trust and pray that you have been able to stay safe and warm throughout these days. While this weather makes springtime seem so far off, enrollment season is just around the corner. As a parent, teacher and principal, I deeply appreciate our South Side family. This community is a beautiful environment in which our children can grow, learn and discover more about our great God, the world we live in and the miraculous individuals they have been created to be. Please be in prayer for next year's enrollment. I love to see community building among children and parents in our hallways. What a blessing to watch new relationships form, after all, we're raising our children together. If I may be so bold, I challenge you and ask, to whom can you reach out to welcome and enfold at South Side? Whose name do you not know? Who needs more than a smile or "hello?" Act upon these Spirit-led inclinations to build relationships at South Side and we'll see God's blessing together! 

HC Discovery Night at South Side
January 22, 6-7:30PM is the date and time for this very special event designed to introduce Holland Christian to prospective parents and students for next year, especially at the Preschool and Kindergarten levels. What can you do?

• Pray for an overwhelming number of new families to come that evening, and for a wonderful experience for all whom God will bring.
• Pray for staff as we welcome and introduce ourselves to these prospective families.
• Help us to create the positive "buzz" for the night by spreading the word and invitation, and by telling your story of Holland Christian and South Side! Think about a family member, acquaintance, neighbor, friend, or colleague whom you could invite to this event. Some of our best advertising is you! 
• Accompany someone to the event. You can greatly alleviate any discomfort someone might feel about walking through the doors of a building into which they've never stepped foot before. Your friendly and welcoming accompaniment may be just what is needed for someone to come and hear our story.

Advanced Notice: 
2015-16 preschool and kindergarten enrollment begins in February. Look for enrollment dates and instructions to be emailed to you next week!

Wacky Wednesday
Due to our snow days, we have postponed our Hat Day events to Wednesday, February 4. We will hold Sports Team Day this Wednesday, the 14th of January. Wacky Hair Day will be the 21st. Pajama Day will be the 28th of this month. Thank you to our parent team for organizing and publicizing this event. 

Flu Season is in Full Swing
We all have either experienced or heard stories of the rampant spread of flu this season. In order to be prepared, and answer some common questions regarding the flu, here is a "Guide for Parents" containing very good information from the Ottawa Department of Public Health. Please read their brochure.

After School Community Enrichment (ACE) News: 
Classes are filling up fast! What a perfect opportunity to invite a non-Holland Christian friend to our campus! The Winter session will begin on Thursday, January 15th for six Thursdays. Preschool Happenings
Spread the word about HC! Reserve the date for our HC Discovery night at South Side scheduled on January 22 from 6-7:30 PM. Invite a friend that may be interested in learning more about the Early Childhood and/or Kindergarten Programs here at South Side, and come along with them to our Discovery Night.
